v3.1
This policy covers the mocka.screen macOS app and the mocka.studio website and cloud services, operated by a sole proprietor based in India (named below).
mocka.screen (the macOS app) and mocka.studio (the website, accounts, share links and AI services) are operated by Darshan Singh Chauhan (Sole proprietorship), trading as Mocka, G-202, Radhe 111 Co-op Society, Kudasan, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, 382421, India (“we”, “us”). For India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 we act as the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here; for the EU/UK GDPR we are the controller.
This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it for us, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have.
Recording, editing and exporting happen on your Mac. Your recordings leave it only when you share a link or run an AI feature.
Screen capture, webcam background removal, audio processing and video export run locally. Projects are saved on your own drive.
Sharing a link uploads that video. Running an AI feature sends the content that feature needs to the AI provider named below. We don’t sell personal data or show ads.
Each category, when it is collected, what it contains and how long we keep it.
| Data | When | What it contains & why | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account | When you sign in | Email address; name and profile picture from Google or Apple sign-in; sign-in method and times. Used to run your account, licensing and support. | Until you delete your account. |
| Sign-in location & activity | While you are signed in on the website | While you are signed in and have mocka.studio open, we record each sign-in and a short activity heartbeat with an approximate location (country, region and city, with coordinates rounded to about 1 km) worked out by our hosting provider from your IP address, plus device type, operating system and browser. We use it to keep your account secure, to understand where the service is used, and to show the operator who is online in an internal admin console. We do not store your IP address or exact position, and we never ask your device for its GPS location. A VPN or mobile network can make the location differ from where you really are. Signed-out visitors are not recorded. | 90 days, then deleted. Deleted immediately with your account, and included in your data export. |
| Billing | When you buy | Subscription plan and status, order amounts, discounts and refunds, AI credit balance and usage. Payments are processed by Polar (merchant of record) and Stripe; we never receive your card number. | Until you delete your account. Polar, as merchant of record, keeps invoices for as long as tax law requires. |
| Shared videos | Only what you share | A video you choose to upload as a share link, with the title you give it, duration and file size. Anyone with the link can watch it. | Until you delete the share link. |
| Share-link viewer statistics | Viewers of shared links | For each view: an approximate location (country, region and city, with coordinates rounded to about 1 km) worked out by our hosting provider from the viewer’s IP address, device type (desktop/mobile/tablet), operating system, browser, the referring website’s name, and how much was watched. Shown to the video’s owner as view statistics. We do not store viewers’ IP addresses, exact positions or full referrer URLs, and we never ask a viewer’s device for its GPS location. A VPN or a mobile network can make the location differ from where the viewer really is. | While the shared video exists. |
| AI feature content | Only when you use AI | Only when you run an AI feature, and only after the app has asked for and received your permission the first time (you can withdraw it from the menu bar), the content it needs is sent to the AI provider listed below: a reduced-quality copy of your recording and its click/shortcut timeline (video analysis), audio (transcription), your script or prompt text (script writing and voiceovers). | Uploaded audio and video are deleted after processing. For video analysis we keep the job record (your prompt, the click/shortcut timeline and the generated narration) for 90 days for billing and support. Providers may keep inputs briefly under their own API terms (for example, for abuse monitoring). |
| Anonymous app usage statistics | Only if you choose “Share” | The mocka.screen app asks before sending anything. If you agree: a random installation ID, app and macOS version, chip type and memory size, and product events (app opened; recording saved or discarded with capture mode and length range; export completed or failed with quality preset, features used, video length, export speed and error code). The country the request came from, worked out by our hosting provider from the IP address (the IP address and any finer location are not stored). If you are signed in, the number of projects and exports is linked to your account for our internal usage dashboard. | Up to 24 months, then deleted. Turning sharing off stops it immediately and deletes the installation ID from your Mac. |
| Website analytics | Aggregated | Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights: page views and page performance without cookies or cross-site tracking. | Aggregated statistics per Vercel’s retention. |
| Advertising measurement | Only if you accept | Only if you accept “advertising cookies” in the website banner: Google Ads and Meta (Instagram/Facebook) set cookies and receive that you reached mocka.studio from one of our ads, the pages you view on mocka.studio, that you clicked Download, and the value and order ID of a purchase (never your name or email). Google Ads data is used only to measure which ads work. Meta uses it to measure our Instagram and Facebook ads and to show them to people more likely to be interested, and may link it to your Meta account under Meta’s own privacy policy. We do not use it for remarketing. | Google’s and Meta’s ad cookies last up to about 90 days. Decline in the banner, or choose “Ad cookie settings” in the footer to withdraw, and neither tag is loaded. |
| Recordings you don’t share | Never collected | Screen video, webcam, microphone and system audio recorded by mocka.screen stay on your Mac unless you share a link or run an AI feature. | Stored only on your own Mac. |
| Typing, clipboard, passwords | Never collected | mocka.screen never records what you type, clipboard contents or passwords. To show keyboard shortcuts in your video, it saves only shortcut combinations that use ⌘ or Control (for example “⌘ + C”) into your local project. These leave your Mac only inside AI video analysis, if you run it. To play typing sounds in the editor, it also saves the moments at which keys were pressed while recording, with no information about which keys: only timing, never characters. That timing stays in your local project, needs no extra permission, and is never sent anywhere. | Stored only in your local project. |
Sign in with Google gives us only your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID, and we use them only to run your mocka.screen account.
When you choose “Continue with Google” in mocka.screen or on mocka.studio, you let us access these items from your Google Account (scopes openid, email and profile):
mocka.screen’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
mocka.screen sends no usage statistics until you choose “Share Anonymous Statistics”. You can switch it off anytime from the menu bar.
The first time you use mocka.screen it asks whether you want to share anonymous usage statistics. Until you agree, nothing is sent and no installation ID is created. You can change your choice at any time from the menu bar icon → Share Anonymous Usage Statistics. Turning it off stops sending immediately and deletes the installation ID from your Mac.
These statistics never include recordings, screen content, audio, project or file names, typed text or your email. Project identifiers are one-way coded so they cannot be turned back into names.
We use data to provide the service, with your consent where required, and to meet legal obligations.
